I have to be totally honest with you people, I wasn’t entirely convinced by the Burberry Prorsum SS14 collection at first: It certainly wasn’t love at first sight, but the more I look at it and the different pieces, and the more it is growing on me. I was much more impressed by the FW14 collection, as there wasn’t a garment I didn’t want to buy… but there are plenty of items this season that I really really like too, and pros about owning pastel colours and relaxed silhouettes; either way, here’s my cheeky editor’s pick.
As previously mentioned, this collection is based mainly on pastel colours – think Mint, Porcelain pink, and sunflower yellow for example -, romanticism and boxy silhouettes, everything seems to be pretty relaxed and with plenty of room, starting from the coats.
For example, this Cashmere Knit chesterfield coat, is oversized in soft double-knit cashmere, perfect for the spring rainy seasons, ultra comfortable and stylish, it’s considered a timeless piece to put back in the wardrobe and take it out each year; in particular, I am falling in love with the twin piece, a shorter version, and in pale pink! That’s what I call romance translated into clothing.
We saw on the runway, a lot of polka dots: on shirts, snoods and sunglasses; That could be easily a success, just as we saw last season with the Burberry heart pattern shirt! The colours are mixed, yellow with black, or green and navy.
Talking about the accessories, the Duffle bag is my favourite, coming in different sizes – Baby duffle, Little duffle, Duffle and Big Duffle – and different colours – how cute is the sunflower yellow bag? – , this bag can easily replace your back-pack, it also comes in the canvas check if you think colour is not your thing!
The Nappa leather document, which was held by the models and folded in two, is also another favourite of mine, this one comes in different colours just like the duffle bag and can keep all your little accessories and phone in one place, the man bag is certainly rising… thank god
So, after seeing the collection and discovering my favourite garments, I am curious to find out which is your favourite pice from the SS2014 collection.
