It was Burberry showdown on sunday afternoon and the very famous Brit brand showed to the Italian people what they can do in the fashion industry! The whole collection was presented at 5 pm in Milan, and the outstanding designer, Christophere Bailey, did impress us a lot this season!
The Prorsum collection quite stayed true to the classic brit brand. Mr Bailey took us to a wonderful journey showing us his land, that land of Hunters, Royalty and Rain.
English iconic and gents-like ready to wear mixed with more eccentric and re-built coats, pants and accessories to give it a whole new life and contrast without looking boring. Studs on Umbrellas and Gloves, loads of Suede, and minimal color blocks ruled on the runway show.
The inspiration of some pieces has definetely been taken from the portraits of Hunters with quilted khaki Gilet, Umbrellas being carried on the shoulders just like they were double-barrelled guns and musky/khaki colors on few of the elements worn by the models. A lot of exposure have been given to man bags this year. The burberry man is a man of the new generation. That kind of man that wants to carry the essential but wants to do it with style!
I was very impressed by the whole set up, starting with the dark room and the rain on the background (screen) and finishing with the boys walking with their studded umbrellas, one after the other showing for one last time this amazing collection.
The music played throughout the show was a mix of songs all made in UK, The Waterboys and the Paris in the rain. It all ended with a very dramatic but rock-style version of the classic “Nessun dorma” by G. Puccini from the notorious Opera “Turandot”.
The Show started with a bang and ended with a double bang!
There were a couple of key pieces that striked right to my heart and I’m gonna show few pictures of what I thought was the best! (I WANT THE LEATHER GLOVES, THE SUEDE QUILTED JACKET AND THE UMBRELLA)
