A Mary-poppins inspired flying Cara Delevingne, Paloma Faith and a group of Dancers in Burberry trench coats were only a few of the fabulous acts seen during the super-event held in Shanghai by the British brand Burberry.
On Thursday 24th of April, Burberry celebrated the launch of its new Shanghai flagship store, only second to the mega-store in Regents Street, by bringing the heritage and feel of London to the futuristic Shanghai.
The event, as mentioned by British singer Paloma Faith, was a glamorous mix between a fashion show and the Olympics opening ceremony in London, featuring live performances from George Ezra, miss Paloma herself, and Ed Hardcourt all singing alongside a live orchestra;
Celebrating the new Burberry Kerry Centre store opening with over 1500 guests including Asian movie stars and singers – we all know how influentials the Asian market is for the brand – and current Burberry favourite Jamie Campbell Bower, the event unfolded just like a musical – think Singing in the rain in Leicester Square -, with a custom-built venue reminiscing the beauty of a victorian London and elements from the main store in 121 Regent Street.
We can see the big appeal for such a big event, after all, we don’t get to see at fashion shows, models dancing in the rain with tartan-check umbrellas and a Cara “flying” through the stage just like Mary Poppins did in the movie, could’t get more British than that;
As expected, Burberry being the main fashion company with the largest presence online, the show was shared on social media platforms such as Vine, Wechat and Instagram, giving the chance to fanatics and customers to follow it globally and enjoy the wonderful voyage from the UK to China;
A celebration not only for the new store in China ; big congratulations to Christopher Bailey for stepping in as the new Burberry CEO in the next few days, we are certainly looking forward to see the developments of our favourite fashion brand.
Here’s the photos from the day and if you wish, you can also enjoy a video with all the highlights of the event.
Stay tuned for the next SS15 collection which will be unfolded on June 17, at LCM!
