Paris fashion week men’s remains thankfully unchanged, while other fashion capitals are giving less importance to menswear, we get to see a growth on designers still wanting to show during Mode a Paris; and we don’t blame them.
Menswear is still a big deal, and getting to see designers creating incredible clothes is what Paris is all about.
From Sean Suen AW18 offering relaxed tailoring, boxy outerwear and a beautiful balance between high fashion elements and smart casual looks (some outfits were definitely reminiscing the Chinese imperial style, as a tribute to the designer’s Beijingese roots), to Machintosh 003, which did a presentation featuring very high-end outfits mixing their staple piece, the trench coat, with impeccable suits, and presenting practical but striking rain proof capes in bright orange.
WOOYOUNGMI, which showed also at the Beaux Arts de Paris, added a refined femininity to its latest mens collection, sending models down the peculiar catwalk set (not your usual runway) wearing minimal, tidy and VERY oversized outfits. The overcoats were incredible, creating flowy movements and giving an androgynous vibe. Remarkable the leather bum bags strapped on the models’s chests.
Once again, Paris fashion week homme is that shining hope that keeps us dreaming about all the beautiful and creative menswear designs.
