Kenzo is definitely a must go-to designer during my Paris fashion week season, with Humberto Leon and Carol Lim always refreshing the range and adding incredible prints, and new designs to their runway shows.
This season, the venue was moved from Porte de la Villette to the more central le Carreau du temple, a beautiful indoor market in the heart of the La Marais, and that was just an incredible change to be able to enjoy a show in this amazing location! The Kenzo man SS17 is the kind of guy who would spend his summer dancing in his own head, he’s funky and loves anything and everything that comes from the 90s.
Short suits, crazy pattern clashing together, python skin print on shirts and leggings, and bold bright colours are all part of the new range; leather and technical fabrics are also a major aspect of the collection. Regarding the accessories, Kenzo gave us plenty of beret hats (will they become cool again?), back packs and bright shoes and sandals.
The show, as you may know, was merged with the women’s resort collection, so men’s outfits were alternated with women’s. This is something different that major designers are doing at the moment with their runway shows and as much as we love menswear, it’s just something we have to accept as the new fashion reality.
