Humberto Leon and Carol Lim have (once again) exceeded our expectations this season, with a Spring/Summer 2016 collection inspired by the guy who is an intrepid traveller, the one who is hungry to discover remote and harsh places, such as the desert or a forest.
The venue chosen for the much anticipated show, was at the Paris event centre, a location that made us wonder what to expect, for days. The wait was worth it, as Kenzo gave us once again, an incredible set with rotating moon like stones covered in glitter (could it be Roswell? could it be mars?), and sand all around to enhance their vision.
For Spring/Summer 16, we saw a relaxed collection, featuring boxy silhouettes , soft fabrics and muted colours, ranging from sand, sun bleached yellow to white and khaki. Fabrics are meant to resemble parachutes or tents, where creativity meets perfectly the concept of the designers.
Incredible, the craftsmanship behind the 3-D like cactus inspired sweater, and the multipockets parachute bags as seen on some models. Accessory wise, there’s a reinvention of the desert boots in suede and patent leather, featuring an extra thick sole for the hostile terrains . We are definitely digging this new collection
