Feeling the sun warming your skin, being able to eat al fresco in the evening, and going for a dip in the sea might sound like the story of a summer holiday in Greece.
But I was fortunate enough to travel to Dubai in the United Arabs Emirates last week; and while I was there, I obviously didn’t miss the chance to shoot an editorial (or two) for the blog, visit the city (wait for #MYDubai guide 101 and travel diary) and enjoy myself before the Christmas holidays.
Dubai is one of those places that you just can’t seem to place right into your mind, It’s incredibly modern yet conservative in their ways of living. You can find the tallest skyscrapers in the financial District (the Burj Khalifa) and some of the best restaurants inside the most impressive skyscrapers you’ll ever see, in the man-made Dubai Marina district. Going for a swim in the sea, or enjoying a cocktail or two by the swimming pool is still possible, and that’s because of the warm temperatures they have during this time of the year (This is the best time to go really)
Shooting this SS15 editorial, I wanted to include some of the best landmarks and backgrounds of Dubai; starting from the Madinat Jumeirah, a re-creation of the authentic Arab souk (markets) that has amazing views of the Burj Al-Arab, the world’s only 7 star hotel! After a quick visit to that, we headed off to Jumeirah beach, and managed to find an insane art installation of UAE flags for national day that was held a few days ago. The photoshoot ended downtown, at the financial district, with one of the most incredible buildings in the world, the staggering 829m high Burj Khalifa
WHAT I’M WEARING:
